Hello Nancy,

My name is Carl Spaeth. My wife is the grandaughter of Clearenda "Dicy" BROGDEN, who was the fourth child of Alexander "Buggy" BROGDEN and his second wife Olivia Catherine WOODS. Thank you very much for posting all of that information on him and his descendents. With regards his birthplace all I have is that the 1860, 1870, and 1880 census says he said he was born in Mississippi, not Alabama or North Carolina! In the 1860 Census for Morgan Co. Alabama, Cedar Plains P.O. area there is listed on page 425, a John A. STRINGER with his family. His wife was Elizabeth, age 26, birthplace Alabama (this could have been Alexander's older sister) and a Buggy A. BROGDEN, age 16, birthplace Mississippi! If this was his older sister their parents could have moved to Mississippi where Alexander was born and then returned to Alabama. Lots of room for speculation here. We need more facts. Let's stay in touch.

Carl and Fairalyn
