Andrew Brodie was born about 1762, since he died at age 42 from fever at Nicolson St. in Edinburgh and was buried in St. Cuthbert graveyard on 14 Sep 1804. I have found no record of his birth under the name Brodie, but there is a possible entry under the name variation Brydie. Andrew Brydie, son of Colin and Janet (Rumgay) Brydie, was born 6 Aug 1762 and baptized 8 Aug 1762 in Carnbee, Fife, the next parish north of Kilconquhar, where William went when he left Edinburgh. Following the traditional Scottish naming pattern, the names Colin and Janet conform with the names Andrew gave his eldest son and second daughter.
