I've been working on this family for over 10 yearss now and as I said have a very large file of information on the BORDIES. What area in Canada is this cemetery? Your BRODIE'S lived in Lower Pokiok,York County,New Brunswick. They had a farm there in the area. Isabella and her husband took over the farm after the death of her father. John BRODIE's sister Susanna CHARTERS and her husband Edward lived next door until their death in 1891. Isabella Carsons father John Nasmith BRODIE died March 12, 1896 and is resting in cemetery in Dumfries,York County,New Brunswick. His wife Jean Scott is also there. She died November 30,1883. Both John and Jean BRODIE haled from Lesmahagow,Lanarkshire,Scotland. They Married May 16,1846. Your Isabella was born there on June 16,1852. Her family sailed over to Canada after shortly after her birth. Their son William was born in Canada in 1855.John was the last of the family to leave Lesmahagow for Canada. The other remained in Scotland some went to Glasgow. John's parents were Alexander BRODIE and Susanna TELFER. Note that John and Jean's first born daughter was Susanna TELFER BRODIE, she was named after her grandmother. All of the BRODIE son's of this family named a daughter Susan Telfer BRODIE. I have copies of letters that Alexander BRODIE write from Scotland dated in the year 1832. As I said in the other e-mail 5 of their children sailed to Canada, The first was their first born daugther Margaret BRODIE who married James Alexander WADDELL who also came from Lesmahagow. The WADDELLS are a very large family, which still can be found though-out New Brunswick today.I'm in touch with Anne WADDELL who has also done a lot of work on her family tree. My ancester was Elizbeth BRODIE and William HUTCHISON. They only had one daughter that I know of and that was Susanna CHARTERS HUTCHISON. She later went on to marry the Rev.James SALMON MD born in England of Scottish parents. They lived in Chipman,Queens county,New Brunswick. I'm a Flight Attendant and I'm heading out and will be on the road for the next 4 days. I'm in Thunderbay tonight and will e-mail you from there. How are you connected with this family? I take it you are connected to the HARPER side of things? Which HARPER are you related to? Cheers for now, Lynn-Marie (^..^)~ Notify Administrator about this message?
