I'm not related to the Brodie family but thought listers may be interested in the following, taken from a book called The Birth of Eastbourne.
Alexander Brodie (b Antigua 1773 but from Scottish descent)
married Anne Walters in 1802.
Became vicar of Eastbourne in 1809.
Children were: Emma (1805), Maria (1807), Alexandra (1808 died young), Alfred (1810), Anna (1811), Walter (1812), Julia (1814), Lydia (1815), John Walter (1817), William (1819), Cecilia (1820), Frederick (1823).

Alexander Brodie died aged 54 in 1828 after an accident, having been thrown from his carriage.
Many of his offspring seem to have been involved in charitable work in Eastbourne, opening schools for the poor, Sunday schools etc.
More information regarding the next generation of Brodies is available in the aforementioned book.
