I am very interested in your Braidwood family notes. I am looking for a Braidwood who married 'Lezabeth' Hamilton.
Elizabeth Hamilton was born in 1833, Abby, Paisley (father Douglas Hamilton - paymaster in coalmine, mother Susan Hay). Her brother William was also a coalminer (married Janet Rodger at Elderslie district of Abbey, Landward, 1861).
Elizabeth's 3 children were living with their maternal grandmother in the 1871 census - Catherine Braidwood (13 - mill worker), Douglas Braidwood(7 scholar), Janet(5,scholar ). The 2 older children were born at Barrhead, Renfrew, Janet, the youngest was born at Glasgow, Lanarkshire. A letter written by the grandmother in 1872 mentions these 3 children, and ALL of her other family (it was to a daughter in NZ that they had not heard from in 8 years) but doesn't mention the parents - so perhaps they were both deceased.
I need to chase up church records of this family, and find out the father's name and the marriage record which may list their parents but am interested if any of this could be relevant to your records.
