Interesting, since I have traced Brodies in the Marylebone area but none of those mentioned by Liz.
I am a descendant of jane Elizabeth Brodie b. 1842 London died 1921. She married Henry Gunning Lilley in Marylebone in 1861.
Her father was William Jogn Brodie b 1814 Middlesex who married Jane B Howden in 1837 in East Lothian.
They had five children, Alexander b.1829, Ellen b 1847, George b 1845, Jane Elizabeth and Emma b 1847.
I am suspicious that Alexander was by a previous wife.
In 1861 Jane B Brodie is living without her husband with her three daughters.
I think this is all accurate but would welcome any criticism. I would very much like to share data with anyone else who thinks they have a connecion with this branch of the brodies.
