Don't know if this will be helpful to you or not. My great-grandmother Emily Brodie (b. 23 Jan 1876) married Andrew McIntyre in Elgin Co., Ont. Emily's father was Thomas Brodie and her mother Sarah (?). Could Thomas be your great-grandfather's brother.
My grandmother, Jessie Thelma McIntyre had a 'birthday book' which listed dates with a little poem and space to write whatever friend or family member was born on that day. The following people were listed in her book with their month and day of birth, but not the year: Benajman Brodie 2/20; Eva Brodie 5/30; Lillian Brodie 9/25; Gertie Brodie 9/22; Rhea Brodie ll/28; and Walter Brodie 12/25.
Please let me know if any of these people are familiar to you.
