I am researching the family of Alexander Marshall Brodie b. 1815 in Coupar Angus, Perthshire , Scotland. Ran away to sea at age 15. Sailed from the port of Dundee, Scotland and eventually became the captain of his own ship, probably the Georgian. Married Anne Wedderburn in 1839. Came to Savannah, Ga. Was naturalized as a citizen in 1842. We believe Anne died in child birth with his son Alexander. The child also died and is buried in Savannah. A.M. Brodie remarried Anne Elizabeth Part, daughter of Lord Richardson Part of Manchester, England. They were married in Savannah in 1850 and moved to Augusta, Ga in that year. Alexander retired from the sea and worked for the Georgia Railroad. Alexander and Anne had the following children: Maggie, Alice, Thomas ,Alexander, David, William, Anne, Lula, Edith, and Sarah. Anne died as a child and Sarah' whereabouts are a mystery.
I have pictures of most of the Brodies and have much more info on this and other families.
