Clarifications for the Niles family:
Nathaniel Mott (b 1707) was the son of Samuel (b 1688)& Mary (Brockway) Mott, not their grandson. His grandparents were: Nathaniel Mott & Hannah (Niles) Shooter.Hannah was the daughter of John 1 (b c1603) & Jane [?Reed]Niles.
Samuel & Mary (Brockway) Mott's daughter Mary Mott (b 5 Jan 1692/3; d 29 Mar 1731) married in May 1712 to Joshua Champion. Mary's father left a legacy to Mary Champion's children in his will made 20 Aug 1751.
Ambrose 3 Niles (b 1683/5) was the son of John 2 Niles. Ambrose married Mary Mott (b 10 Mar 1692/3), a dau of John (b 1659)Mott & Marcy Tosh (b 1669). Their son Ambrose 4 Niles was born in 1723 and married Mary ---.
The two Mary Motts were first cousins and born a month or so apart and have been confused in the records. However, Samuel Mott's will states her name as Mary Champion.Other records show this to be Joshua Champion. [Barbour Collection].
