Was An "Original Daughter" Death of Mrs Henry Pratt of Essex (Special to The Courant.) Essex, Dec 4, 1900 Died at her home on Main Street, aged 85 years. Mrs Pratt had been an invalid for the past four years , the result of a fractured hip. The immediate cause of her death was a shock of paralysis, three weeks ago. Mrs Pratt was the daughter of John and Irene Brockway of Lyme and was born in Lyme 1815. She was married to Mr Pratt in 1848. She was a member of the Essex Methodist Church for more than 60 years. Mrs Pratt was an original daughter of the Revolution, and was a member of the Susan Carrington Clarke Chapter, D.A.R. of Meriden, possessing a gold spoon which was presented to her in 1898 as a special badge of the direct Revolutionary period. She is survived by her husband and seven children, two sons and five daughters, Henry Pratt, Captain John Pratt, coal dealers of Essex, Alice, Laura, Fanny of Essex, Mrs John A Dewolfe of Black Hall, Lyme, and Mrs John Rippere, wife of Rev. John Rippere of Patchoque, N.Y. Mrs Pratt's death is the first break in the family circle. The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at her late home and will be conducted by Rev A.P.
