Brockett Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Patsy, First welcome to the Brockett family history search. John Brockett (Sr.) was of course born in England. His line back into the mists of Yorkshire is worked out on the Broket Archive web site. John was the original immigrant progenitor of the Brockett clan and as such, much has been written and argued over the years about his parentage. The original story was that he was the son of Sir John Brockett, friend of Queen Elizabeth. That he had been disinherited and struck from the family rolls when he decided to marry a Puritan and move to New England with Theophilus Eaton and John Davenport. Of course he did all that and was one of the founders of New Haven, but his father was not Sir John. He was of the same family however, and if you look in the Broket Archive you will see that it shows that his common ancestry with Sir John is back only a couple of generations.
I have extensive research on my own Brockett line. My great grandfather was Walter Dudley Brockett of North Haven, but this family has been researched and written about extensively. Just check the Brockett Genforum for proof of that. Let me know how you do.
Best Wishes, Mike F.
