Since I am a novice and have not tried to research the Broady branch of my family tree, I don't think I can help you much. However, I suspect that we are cousins based on the following:
I grew up in Washington Co VA and lived right across the road from the Caywood-Broady Cemetery where Joe Broady (engineer on the Ole 97) is buried. My gg-grandfather Joseph M. Crabtree (b. about 1800-1812;d. 1892) married Sarah Ann Broady (b. 1813), and both are buried in that same small cemetery.Unfortunately, I have not been able to identify the parents of either of them. I know the names of their children, but know almost nothing about any of them except my g-grandfather Jasper Newton Crabtree.
A cousin wrote a book called "The Crabtrees of Southwest VA" and therein identified the wife of my gg-grandfather as Sarah Ann Caywood instead of Sarah Ann Broady. She gave the marriage date of 12/22/1833 but did not give her source of information. She also did not say where she found the middle name 'Ann'.Later, someone discovered that the death certificate of her daughter listed her name as Sally Broady. That information was supplied by son-in-law Mathias Carpenter.
I will be happy to help you if I can.I hope that you can help me.
