Barbara, I have read your information on Andrew and Robert Spere Broadfoot. Maybe you can help me! I'm trying to find all information on the connection of the Broadfoot and Hannay families of Whithorn, Sorbie & Inch Scotland. I'm a descendant of Alexander Murray Hannay of Whithorn. His daughter Gertrude married Peter Martin Rhodes (my gg.gf), who's father Spencer was the brother to Catherine E. and Louisa A., who married Thomas S. and Peter Martin Broadfoot. I hope I'm not confusing you, I know it's nearly confusing me! I found these marriages on the IGI for Whithorn Scotland. Alexander Hannay m. Isabella Broadfoot 13 Oct. 1713 in Whithorn; Alexander Hannay m. Mary Broadfoot 27 Apr. 1807 in Wigtown; Alexander Hannay m. Jean Broadfoot 08 Feb. 1834 in Sorbie; Charles Broadfoot m. Isabelle Hannay in Whithorn, no date listed but appears to be late 1790's. I'm mostly concerned with the listing of Alexander Hannay m. Mary Broadfoot in 1807, this one could be the one! I would appreciate any help on this and I'm very willing to help you in return if I can. I live in Florence and know several people working on these lines. I'm also interested in Robert Spere Broadfoot. A very good friend of mine is descended from Robert and I have been trying to help him find Confederate Information, for S. C. V. purposes. The only unit that I have found is Co. C 5th Alabama Cavalry, McCluskey's Sharpshooters, but he is not listed on the microfilm roles. Can you shed any light on this subject? Thank You, Bryan Summerhill
