Thanks for your reply, Ed. Is it possible that Andrew S. Broaddus was married to a Lucy Ellen Golden and then to Martha E. Broaddus and then later in life to a June______? I checked my old notebooks of information and letters
that I was getting about 40 yrs ago before I became too busy with descendants and had to put the ancestors aside for a time. Mrs. Mary Owens Metzler of Houston gave me the names of Andrew S. Broaddus and Lucy Ellen Golden with children listed as Reuben G., Oscar, Clay, B.G., Leland, and Lucy Ann.
Then Mrs. Charles Blachard of San Lorenzo, CA gave me the names of Andrew and Martha E. with the above children plus the additional names of Charles, Kingsford, Mary, Betsy, Martha S., Cornelia, Hattie, and Nellie.
Then an 1880 census of Caldwell, Burleson Co, TX listed Andrew as 70 yrs old with a wife, June, as 50 yrs old.
Was he married 3 times? Or was the name of Lucy Ellen Golden a mistake?
My list shows that the daughter, Lucy Ann Broaddus married in 1855 to William B. Sullivan. Their children were
William Frederick, Lucy Ellen, Warren, Nancy Rebecca (my line), and Drew. I think that Mrs. Mary Owens Metzler was descended from Lucy Ellen Sullivan who married William Horito Owens. She said that William Frederick had married Ella Matthews. My Nancy Rebecca married William P. Jackson. I don't have spouses for Warren or Drew.
I also have some correspondence from Cora Sullivan Broaddus who if I am remembering correctly, was descended from one of these Broaddus lines and also married a Broaddus line. Any relation to you?
