My great grandfather's name was William Brittingham. It is my understanding that his father (whose name I have been unable to determine) was in some branch of the service. He was killed in a war. After his death, his wife married someone else.

I don't know that there is any correlation between the two, but I thought it may be possible that my great grandfather could have been the son of the gentleman you are referring. Both have the name William, and my great grandfather's dad was in the service. ?????? Don't know.

My grandfather died when I was 10 and my grandmother is 90 years old. It's difficult for her to remember much, so everything is difficult in my search.
