Hi Barbara,
I have John in my data base and have a lot of history about him if you are interested.Supposedly he and his wife had fourteen children.I do not have their names.
However, for the ancestry of John I show:
John's Parents: Richard Brittain (m. 1733, d. 1771 md to Hannah Saltar (d. 1785)
Richard's Parents:Nathaniel Brittain (b. 1688)
and Frances (I have history on him and items from his will.)
Nathaniel's Parents:Nathaniel Brittain b. 1688 Staten Island, NY and unknown. This Nathaniel was md to Elizabeth Gerritsen but she was too young to have been this Nathaniel's mother.I think a first wife had the first three to five children.Nathaniel was the oldest child which makes him from the first family.
Nathaniel's Parents:Nathaniel Brittain b. about 1640 of Batcombe, Somersetshire, England who md. Ann Stillwell.
Nathaniel's father is Richard Brittain.I have seen Christian Reimer as his wife, but lack proof of it and have my doubts as to whether that is correct.
Ann Stillwell's father is Nicholas Stillwell and possibly the mother is Anne Van Dyke. She is given in some sources, but I cannot prove it.However, we do know her first name was Ann. (Annetje when she was a witness at a baptism).
The Mary Stillwell who was the daughter of John Stillwell and Rebecca Throckmorton married Daniel or Thomas Seabrook and Daniel Corsen.
