Brittain-Stillwell marriages
I don't like being a party-pooper but of these Brittain-Stillwell marriages that I keep seeing, some just don't hang together and I am confused.
For one the Elizabeth Stillwell who married John Brittain seems to be too young to be the dtr of Jeremiah Stillwell and Rebecca Ashton. She fits better as his sister rather than dtr.I know that messes up a nice royal descent thru the Throckmortons. But what is the primary evidence for this filiation.
The Mary Stillwell who married William Brittain doesn't seem to fit as the sister of the Anne who married Nathaniel Brittain.I've seen it said her father didn't have a Mary.So again what is the primary source evidence for this.
Furthermore there seem to be two Nathaniels of abt the same age but both are given the same wife.Again where are our primary sources to sort all this out.
I don't think it does much good to keep repeating secondary sources, many of which are of dubious value.Help!?
