Hello, Mickey,
It's been a long time since your post, but it caught my attention. Is your John H. Brittian the same as my John John A. Brittain. In the 1860 Carroll Co., AR Census, the following:
John A. BRITTAIN/50/M/W/Farmer/R.E.Val.2000/P.P.Val.1270/NC
Nancy/47/F/W
Ary/22/F/W
Susan J./17/F/W
James H.P./16/M/W/Farmer
Henry T./12/M/W
Martha E./ 7/F/W
John PATE/25/M/W/Farm laborer
Ary is my direct ancestor, who in about 1861 married this John Pate, my gr-gr-grandfather.You show other children in another post, but there are certainly lots of similarities. There are some minor discrepancies in my material, but too many similarities to ignore as being the same. Also, "Ary" is also shown on the 1870 Census (married to John Pate) as be age 32.That would put her birth in 1838.
Back to the Brittians (Brittains)---I cannot go back any further than Ary's parents; John A. Brittain, b. abt 1810 in NC; Nancy ????, born about 1813.Get back with me and see if we can make any other connections.
Thanks (relative-ly speaking)
Don Gillam
