Good morning Gary,

I do not know who the father of John the grandson of John and Suzanna is. That is one of the things I was hopeing the will would help with. I have an idea that the grandson John is the son of a John who predeceased John, the Blacksmith (or John 1670, or John 1660 however you wish to refer to him), but the existance of this middle generation John is speculation on my part at this point.

I also noted you gave the marriage of John and Suzanna as 1699. I also saw that date given in the book on Isle of Wight marriages by Blanch Adams Chapman. However, in Isle of Wight deed book 1, page 277 in a deed dated March 14, 1698, John Brett, Blacksmth, and wife Suzanna of Upper Parish sold land to John Portis, Jr. Later, in deed book 2, page 16 dated April 10, 1699 the same deed is repeated. So I am not sure of what the proper marriage date for John and Suzanna may be (or why the same deed was filed twice).
