Hi, Luke.
My name is Barry Britt. I live in Halls, TN. We are related somewhere back up the line, but I don’t know exactly where.
My parents came from Henderson County. I was actually born in Lexington in 1956 at a clinic operated by Dr. Cornelia Huntsman. I think she died a few years ago and the clinic building has been a real estate office for several years. It is just off the northwest corner of the square. My parents lived in Hohenwald at the time and were home visiting when I decided it was time to be born.
My grandparents lived just off Hwy 412 at their passing. I know I had a great-uncle named Elvis that was killed crossing the highway at Blue Goose about 30-35 years ago. He lived in a trailer house on Poplar Springs Road.
My dad, Carl Britt, died in 1979. His parents were Rev. John Jesse and Annie Bybee Britt. She died in 1976 and he in 1980. Another son, Joe, was killed in an auto accident in 1940? And Willard died just a couple of years ago in Oklahoma City. He was cremated but a marker was placed in the cemetery in his memory. All are buried at Independence Cemetery.
I have some hand-written notes that were passed through relatives on the Smith side of my family to me from Dennie Todd plus I have found some other info just recently on the internet. Maybe we could share/compare what we have.
