Briscoe Family Genealogy Forum

I am a descendent of Isaac Briscoe, born 9/9/1788 in Virginia. Believe Isaac was kin to both Thomas (born 1791 in Virginia) and James W. (born 1804 in Virginia). Am working on getting past brick wall with Isaac's ancestors. I have found some folks' notes that think these three (Isaac, Thomas, and James W.) could have been brothers - sons of a Thomas Briscoe, Sr. (born mid-1700's in London, England - came to America to Charleston, SC and wound up in Lee County, Virginia. I can NOT validate this, but this does seem possible. This Thomas Sr. is known to have been in Lee County, VA in late 1700's-early 1800's where he died prior to 1809. He was married to Elizabeth Tackett (possibly in 1782 in Charlotte County, Virginia). My Isaac married Hester (Hattie) Kyle in 1811 in Hawkins County, TN - neighbor to Lee County, VA. She was from Kyle family in Lee County. It is known that members of Isaac's family knew about and visited members of James W.'s family in Arkansas during Civil War. Also, there was marriage of couple from both lines(Etta Ruth Short to Joseph Alonzo Briscoe)in 1917 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Both families were at this time represented in Cotton/Tillman Counties in Oklahoma. I am working on sketchy and for me unproven information of Thomas, Sr's early days, but something to put out for reveiw/comment. Would be happy to chase this scenario further with anyone of these family lines. Contact me directly at:
