I have a tentative BRISCOE line and I would like to communicate with anyone who
reconizes these names:
1.Dr.John Briscoe & Elizabeth DuBois - 1st emmigrant family, he
was the surgeron for "The Ark", landing on the East Shore of
Maryland, near St. Mary's. I have also seen his wife's name
as Boys. "The Ark" and "The Dove" sailed from Ipswich, Eng.
abt 1633-35?
2.John Briscoe II - spouse unknown
3.Col.Phillip Briscoe (1648-1724) & Susannah Swann (1658-1740)
4.Dr. Phillip Briscoe (1680-1745) & Elizabeth Cole (1693-1767)
5.James B. Briscoe (d1779) & unknown
6.Edward Briscoe (1770-1829) & Margaret Harbison
7.(Mary) Polly Briscoe 1794KY-1854ILL) & Henry Ferguson
Polly Briscoe and Henry Ferguson were married in Washington Co,
KY in 1816 - one source gives her father as a "James" but it is beleived
he was Edward, who used the name of his father, James, perhaps because
he may have been orphaned. Polly and Henry moved thru Missouri,
to Pike County, Ill - they actually lived in both Pike Cos - MO &
Ill at one time or another. Polly had at least one brother, Ira
Briscoe. Polly and Henry Ferguson had the following children:
Catherine (Kitty Ann) who married Wm Yokem in Washington Co KY in 1841;
William, married Louisa Ann Talbert/Tolbert in Pike Co, Ill 1850;
Ira born in KY but died 1859 Pike Co, Ill and Thompson, married
Mary Adaline Hill 1856 Pike Co, Ill.
