My grandfather's was John Robert "Wagner" b.1892
His marriage certificate said he was born in Illinois.
Briscoe was believed to be his real name although he went by his stepfather's name Wagner. His obit said his mother's name was Dora from Lafeyette, Indiana. Could this be the same Dora that was married to David Curtis Briscoe. I calculate that she was born sometime in the 1870's. Did he die young or divorce.
