Jean James has much info on this family. I am descended from the Samuel Mason whose daughter Elizabeth married Philip Briscoe. Elizabeth and Philip lived in Claiborne County Mississippi and had daughters. Philip was not the only briscoe to go to Mississippi through Kentucky; cousins or brothers also went. Eventually one branch of Briscoes and Masons were in Fort Bend County Texas in the 1840s.
