Christi (and other BRISCOE researchers), I and others have for some time been working on the ancestry of James W. BRISCOE (husband of Mary (Polly) DOSSEY). These are noted as the parents of Pheraby Jane BRISCOE. Information on James W. that I have is that he was born 1804 in Virginia, married Mary DOSSEY in about 1820 in Alabama, and died 12/1/1862 in Arkansas.
I am a descendant of Isaac BRISCOE (born 1788 in Virginia/Kentucky; married Hester KYLE in 1811 in Hawkins County, TN, died 2/1864 in Kaufman County, TX). There is strong probability that Isaac and James W. were kin - that connection has not been made/proven to best of my knowledge. However, we can link the two families in at least two ways: 1) it is noted that one of Isaac's sons visited in the home of James W. in Arkansas during the Civil War, and 2) Joseph Alonzo BRISCOE (descendant of James W./Mary Polly Dossey BRISCOE) married Etta Ruth SHORT (descendant of Isaac/Hester Kyle BRISCOE) in 1917 in Wichita Falls, TX.
There is some that make the case for a third BRISCOE (Thomas)that is kin to both Isaac and James W. Thomas is noted to have been in Alabama (as James W.), and information I have is that Thomas did not leave Alabama.
