Julia Lee Whiten, 97, of Berryville, Virginia formerly of Washington, D.C., died Friday October 5, 2001 at Rose Hill Nursing Home in Berryville, VA.
She was born March 5, 1904 in Leesburg, Virginia the daughter of the late Phillip Briscoe and Mary Sidney Briscoe.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Washington, DC where she was a member of the United Methodist Women Group II. She also was a member of the American Legion and the YWCA. After moving to Berryville, Va., she attended the Duncan Memorial Methodist Church in Berryville.
She was married to Charles M. Whiten who preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her cousins, Theodosia Stokes of Baltimore, MD and Florence Paige of Berryville. One brother, Phillip Briscoe, Jr. and one sister, Emily Brown both preceded her in death.
A homegoing service will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday October 11, 2001 at Asbury United Methodist Church .The Rev. Eugene W. Matthews, Senior Pastor will officiate. Burial will be Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
