Hi Martin, I've come across Crofton Hall but have been unable to tie my Brisco(e) family to it. circa 1832 two brothers emigrated to Canada from Britain James Brisco, born circa 1803 in England, married Sarah Jane Taylor (B. 1804, daughter of Thomas Taylor and Dinah Maunsey) in England, marriage date and location unknown but thought to be in Cumberland or Westmorland, children who travelled with them were Jane (b. 1931) and Brian (bapt. 1832). James and Sarah Brisco are 3g-grandparents of mine. More children born in Canada. Sarah's daughter, Dinah Taylor (b. 1828) did not travell with the. Unknown who she stayed with or why. Eventually Sarah came to Canada with her husband, John Atkinson, and settled near her mother. (Dinah and John Atkinson are g-g-grandparents of mine. I am also a g-g-granddaughter of Brian Brisco bapt. 1832 - so I have James and Sarah as 3g-grandparents due to of grandchildren of Brian and Dinah.) William Brisco, born circa 1815 in England, married Caroline Ightman/Eitman/Iteman, date and location of marriage unknown, children born in Canada. Family legend says they sailed fro Liverpool, name of ship unknown, and the crossing took 6 weeks. Lived for a while in Quebec before moving to Admaston Township, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada. Records found for James Brisco give birth place as England. Records found for William Brisco give birth place as: England(registration of 2nd marriage in Ontario, names of parents left blank), Whittington, county of Westmoreland, England (newspaper death notice) and Yorkshire, England (Ontario death registration). Have yet to discover where either James or William Brisco were born. If you have a connectin to either of these brothers please contact me. Notify Administrator about this message?
