Hi Laura: My ancestor, John Anthony, settled in Kent County, Maryland after the Revolutionary War and married Sophia Briscoe (a very fyne ladys); daughter of a patriotic and socially prominent family of that time. They were the parents of three sons: Joseph Briscoe, Wayne and Benjamin and two daughters: Caroline, who died in her youth and Frances. (John Anthony was a Revolutionary War soldier and enlisted in 1776 from St. Mary's County.) He and Sophia settled in Galena, then called Georgetown Crossroads. This is all from my DAR papers and info handed down from family members.
If you have any information on my gr.gr.gr. grandmother and the Briscoe family in Maryland, I would be most appreciative. Thank you.
