Where in North America did your William Brisbane arrive? If the coastal area of South Carolina, we might have a connection.

My emigrant ancestor, William Brisbane 1710 - 1771 emigrated around 1732 to the Charleston area, and though he himself died two days after arriving back in Scotland, his children stayed in SC and he became in time a bit of a South Carolina patriarch. His MOTHER was a Patterson - Catherine of that ilk. However, according to my records (initially an article my grand father contributed in 1913 to the SC Historical and Genealogical Magazine), his daughter (by his third wife) Margaret Brisbane 1761 - 1801 married John Smith and / or Isaac Alaxander.

I confess my data on this Margaret Brisbane is pretty hazy, however. Records from this time often tend to concentrate more on the men.

Anyhow, do any of those names or details chime a chord with your data?
