1762/10/17 VA, Amelia will of John Hastings, Security by Francis Tucker and Tho. Booth.Wit-John Hastins, John Archer, Peter Coleman and William Hastins.Wife not named, children named John, Zachariah, Abner, Usley, Edea, Tamer, Amey, Agnis Brintle and Mary Totty.
NOTE-Several highly regarded VA historians tell me that OfSIGNIFICANT VALUE, is the placement of the Latin word IMPRIMIS (meaning of the first part and also occasionally used to denote first born. The language in this will is indicative of the writing of one of the Cousins (I think it was Peter) who was a well-known lawyer in Southside VA.)John’s will uses the wordIMPRIMIS two times i.e.,(1) "I give & dispose of in manner following IMPRIMIS I Give and Devise to my Loving Wife....(2) then divided between my Son John & my son Zachariah and my Son Abner & my Daughter Usley & my Daughter Edea & my Daughter Tamer & my Daughter Amey IMPRIMIS I give & devise to my Daughter Agnis Brintle and my Daughter Mary Totty. [major question was Edea one and same person as Susannah or Suckey Hastings who married John Ellis. - see later entries in Warren Co., NC]
