Hi. I thought I would bring this discussion up a level since I almost missed Shepard's post in the line of discussion. So far, the names I have gathered for Millen are: '79' and 'Old 79' [because it was 79 miles from Savannah on the Central Railroad]; 'Brinsonville' [because of the preponderance of Brinsons in the area?]; and 'Millen Station' [named after an architect for the Central of Georgia railroad, John B Millen]. There is a reference to a person having come from Millen, Burke County, Georgia. I have an uncle who was born in Keysville, Burke County, Georgia [although his family actually lived in Millen]. Millen was incorporated September 30, 1881. Jenkins County was formed in August 1905 from lands taken from Bulloch, Burke, Emanuel and Screven counties. It seems that Millen officially became part of Jenkins County at this time. If my knowledge is incorrect, please let me know. In researching documents like census records, it may be important to know in which locality to search. I just remained confused. Hoping for more clarification.
