As an arcane bit of history, Millen was once called Brinsonville. Nearly every Brinson here in east Georgia is descended from Adam Brinson (1689-1769)from Onslow County, North Carolina, who married Sarah Stiring. My grandmother was a Brinson. Family history says her father, Dr. Shepard Emmitt Brinson (1851-1925), hid with the mules in the swamp to keep Sherman's marauders from stealing them. I sure would like to find out where Adam's son, Adam Jr (1751-1825), the Revolutionary war soldier, and his wife, Mary Sheppard (1798-1820) are buried in Burke/Jenkins County.
