Cornelius Brinkley, Pitt Co, NC, Mid-1880s

Marriage bond between James Franklin Tyson and Nellie Jane Ford in 1867 listed his father as Cornelius Brinkley and his mother as Susan A. Tice/Tyson. No other written or oral family history sheds any light on the identity of this Cornelius Brinkley. Family oral history has it that James Franklin's mother never married his father, electing to give him her family name Tyson. Thus far, have only found one other reference in Pitt County to Cornelius Brinkley who was identified as an heir of Treasy Little, probably around 1843. This timeframe is in keeping with James Franklin's birth year of 1844. Any additional information on Cornelius Brinkley will be appreciated.
