Jim, is the Stephen Brinkley you mentioned the same Stephen that married Barbary Goss in Granville County, NC in February 1803? Is he one of Frances's children that returned to Granville to marry? I find only one Stephen Brinkley in the censuses before 1850 and he was Rowan in 1810, then later in Davidson and Davie. Barbary Goss was a widow in 1850 and living with whom I guess is her daughter, Anna Wagner, and Anna's family.
