I have been told by older cousins that Peter Briner married my grandmother's cousin, Hattie Beveridge, whose family lived in Allegany Co MD. Hattie was born about 1896-9, daughter of Charles and Mary (Savage) Beveridge, probably in Midland MD. I'm just beginning to research this line, so what I have is limited:
1920 US Census, Allegany Co MD, Midland, Elect Dist 18, Pct.1, Enum.42, sheet 1A-B, printed page 56, dw.17, family 17:
John A. Briner, 25, b. MD, father b.Austria, mother b.Germany, coal mine fireman
Frances? Margaret, wife, 21, b.MD, par. b.MD
Marget?, dau, 2/12, b.MD, par.MD
Magdelon?, mother, 69, widow, immig 1882, naturalized 1887, b. Austria, par. b. Austria
Hiner?, Robt, 34, b.MD, par.MD, coal miner
Katherine, wife, 30, b. MD, father b.MD, mother b. Canada
Dorothy, dau, 9, b.MD, par.MD, school
Katherine, dau, 7, b.MD, par.b.MD, school
Also dw.25, fam.26:
Joseph Briner, 21, b. MD, par.b.Austria, coal miner
Marie, wife, 22, b. MD, par. b.Austria
Marie, dau, 4/12, b.MD, par. b. MD
These are "visible" online as the original images at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdallegh/. What a blessing!
I haven't found Peter Briner with his parents, nor with Hattie yet, but I am just getting started on this line. With other Beveridges (mostly coal miners), I've found the same individuals in two different states for a given census, like Carbon Co PA and Allegany Co MD in 1850, and later in Marion Co WV while they were supposedly in Allegany Co MD at the same time. The children born around the time of those moves give differing birthplaces for themselves from one census to the next. So they were the original, truly mobile workforce!
If you're still working on this line or have more information on the Briners these days, would you let me know?
