Thanks to Clyde Brinley, http://www.brinley.net/forum/default.asp a Brinley/Brindley/Brinlee/Brinly/etc. DNA program has begun. So far, 6 from various lines and spellings have ordered tests. I would urge a "representative" male with the Brinley/Brindley/etc. surname from various lines to participate. For example, we have one descendant of Hiram Brinlee (Collin Co. TX) who has ordered the test. Unless someone is wondering if they descended from Hiram of Collin Co. TX, there would be no need for any other descendants of his to take the test. The collected data could certainly help everyone. From a comparison of the 12 markers of those from various lines taking the test, it could be determined which lines have the common ancestors. We could learn which lines we match and which lines we don't match regardless of how the spelling evolved. The test is through Family Tree DNA . The URL is http://www.familytreedna.com/ if you want to read about it. The test consists of a cheek swab returned via mail to the company. A 12 marker test which costs $149 for an individual is only $99 if done through the group. Since only males can take the Y chromosome based test, I would suggest that other researchers (including females) of the same line might share the expense. Here is the URL needed for ordering the 12 marker Brindley/Brinley/etc DNA test kit for $99. http://www.familytreedna.com/ftLogin.asp?kit=D3370&code=J6316 If you do not like to use a credit card on line, you can order and mail a check to the company. Family Tree DNA 1919 North Loop West, Suite 110 Houston, Texas 77008, USA Include the following for the $99 group rate: Brinley kit=D3370&code=J6316 If you order, write to Clyde Brinely cbrinley@brinley.net that you have ordered and give him a brief summary of your line. The comparisons of the test result markers will be posted on his Brinley/etc. site. I participated in a Baker DNA program by paying half of the fee for a male cousin. We have learned some extremely important things from the results. Write me if you're interested or if I can answer any questions. edwall@ccaonline.com Gale Notify Administrator about this message?
