I stated above that Mathias was the only son to have male heirs. That is not true. The son Swithin did in fact have two sons: Peter b. 1754, d. 1817, who served as Chief Burgess and State Senator. He gained eminence as the publisher of the Delaware Gazette, and John b. 1758, d. 1819. Neither Peter or John had any male children.

The other son of Christian and Maria was Peter who married Ann Owens. They had a son Christian, b. 1750, but his birth was not recorded in the records of the Old Swedes Church. It is believed he was killed in the Revolution in 1777.
