Hi Pam,

According to Janice Deitch Young, in her book on the Brignac family, she has Simon Jacques Brignac stationed at Fort Toulouse, Alabama as documented in the census of 1721. There were 12 other soldier at the fort. Around 1725, Simon marries Marie Turpin (she may have been the daughter of Jean Baptiste Turpin)no records of the marriage can be found. No other marriage is mentioned. Simon and Marie were the progenitors of all the Brignac in Louisiana.
There children were: 1)Simon Pierre Brignac dit St. Simon St. Pierre, 2)Marie Brignac, 3)Marie Francoise Brignac, 4)Mathieu Jacque Brignac dit Jolie, 5)Michel Brignac and 6)Marie Jeanne (Josephe) Brignac. He is buried at Fort Toulouse and she in Opelousas.
Mike
