Sorry for not getting back with you sooner. I think we need to look into this William and Martha Closer. I wouldn't be surprised that William and William C. ends up being the same person.

My wife is descended from the Brightwells through Mary L. Brightwell that married James Richardson in Pittsylvania County Virginia. Her father is John C. Brightwell that died in Gibson County Tennessee about 1850 and Mary's siblings was living with her and her Husband in the 1850 census. I believe that John C. Brightwell may be the same as Claybrook Brightwell that married Elizabeth Rice the daughter of Samuel Rice. It seems that Claybrook is the son of Anderson Brightwell that married Nancy Brightwell the daughte of Reynolds Brightwell. Anderson Brightwell also had a son Leonard Brightwell that married Amanda Richardson the sister of James Richardson that married Mary Brightwell.

I have also noticed in some Bute/Warren County North Carolina records that there is an older Leonard and Reynolds Brightwell and wondered if the Leonard in Meigs Count is closely related to that set of Brightwells. I know that all the Brightwells will end up being related but how is what we have to figure out.
