1930 Census
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
The 1930 US census will be released April 2, 2002.These will be readily available at all NARA Outlets and most major libraries.Smaller ones may carry some states until they can afford all. Film may be purchasedor rented.Only 10 states are soundexed (Ala.-Ark- Fla- Ga- La- Miss- NC- SC- Tn- and Va)Kentucky has Bell-Floyd-Harlan-Kenton-Muhlenberg -Perry and Pike counties soundexed and West Virginia has Harrison-Kanawha-Logan-McDowell-Mercer-and Raleigh counties soundexed. The remainder will not even be indexed. One must use city directories, postal info. etc to locate persons or search entire county.www.nara-gov/genealogy/citydir.htmllists directores available.
Since Brightwells werein most of the states by 1920,Brightwell researchers will spend many many hours duplicating searches unless we unite and find a way to share.
I cannot be the organizer since I will be gettingoff web soon to travel and research on the road for a while. However, since I have my own microfilm reader, I plan to search the following:
All soundexed states and following counties in Texas:Anderson - Bastrop - Brazoria - Callahan - Camp - Cooke - Dallas - Denton - Eastland - Ector - El Paso - Ft. Bend - Galveston - Gregg - Henderson - Jefferson - Liberty - Potter - Rusk - Tarrant - Travis - Williamson.Any person contributing all Brightwell infofrom any county, any state would be eligable to receive info from the pool.Would like to hear your thoughts.
