YOU ARE WELCOME! I see where you tried to send me a "post"
to my email but it didn't come through, so I searched the Bright GENFORUM
and saw you reply. I hope that you find all the info you are looking for
and it should indeed be interesting if Martha was born in Ireland!

History lesson: my Bright ancestors were probably German and came to PA
and may have been from Palatine Germany - the stronghold of the Protestants
that were evicted from Germany. Some went to Ireland, some to England, where the Queen tried to help some of them. They had a terrible time and many
died of starvation, etc...either in England, or on a ship over, or in America
in the colonies. Your Martha may not have been part of that - but it is a bit of history that is important for Bright, Brite, Albrecht, Brecht and other
spellings....name changes were often made by Ellis Island registering
immigrants, or by census workers and others who decided to use "English"
spellings. Or by the person and or families so they would fit in better.
The Irish were not really welcome in America - thought of as ruffians and
thugs "Fighting Irish" - and drunkards - but we know better, eh!
Only a few bad apples in any barrel can make the whole barrel smell bad -
so most Irish were fine religious hardworking people - and welcome
later on....
