In Allegany County & Its People, W.A. Fergusson & Co., 1896, NY, it states that William Briggs was the son of Garner [probably Gardiner, a RI name], and came to Allegany Co. in 1822, settling on Lot 107; was a soldier in the War of 1812. It also states his wife's name was Eunice Vaughn. I found a marriage for Eunice Vaughn and William Briggs in Sterling, New London Co., CT. They married 9 Feb 1812.
