I am a beginning "genealogist" and I have run into quite a few brick walls already. My great-grandfather was George Frederick Briggs who m. Laura Belle Amidon in 1903, d. June 1955. I do not know how many children they had but I know there were at least two daughters, one born in 1910. His parents were James Peckins Briggs m. Amelia Anna Oldfield. I cannot find any information on either George Frederick Briggs or his father James Peckins Briggs. Amelia Anna Oldfield is the daughter of James Oldfield who married Sela Walker. Sela Walker is the daughter of Amos B. Walker who married Ann Palmer. Amos B. Walker is the son of Joseph Walker, b. 12-29-1761, married to Sela Cooley. This is about as far as I can take it. The above information came from some very early genealogy done by my grandmother's family. The only other information I have is that George Frederick Briggs died in Greenville, PA, and was buried in Jamestown. My mother seems to recall that her grandfather was a Spanish-American War veteran. George Frederick Briggs may have had a sister named "Linnie". If anyone can provide me with some information other than this bare-bones history, I would sure appreciate it. In advance, I thank you for your help.
