Hi Jo-Ellen,

I went back to check my earlier correspondence and found that in July of this year, Royce Brigance Jackson of Maryville, TN, son of Albert Brigance, told me that he had checked his father's 2 volume set on the Brigance family history and noted that my "Earl" was actually Robert Earl Brigance, born 3 Dec 1876 and died in 1939. He went on to say that his father had listed 8 children for "Earl" and Ida, but that there was nothing else on that family. This pretty much confirms what I've found, or rather what I've not found! Initially, I had thought that the 1920 Census takers might have simply misspelled the surname, but so far, no luck!

Thanks again for your responses!

Best regards,

Bill
