Seven states were represented. John Henry and Mary A. were married in Red River Co., Texas in 1865 shortly after he returned from the Civil War. Then shortly after the birth of their first child, James Miner, in 1866 they moved to the Tate area. They reared their family in the Tate area and most of their 51 grandchildren were born there. Five of 51 their grandchildren are still living and all five were in attendance at the 2005 reunion. John Henry's brother, Redmond R. BRIGANCE, also made the move from Texas to Scott Co. with his family about the same time John Henry and Mary A. did. The John Henry group was pleased to have some of Redmond R.'s descendants from south Texas join them for the reunion this year. The group began gathering at the Cypress Barn Lodge at noon on Saturday (June 18). At 2:30 p.m. they departed from the lodge for their tour to the Tate area were members of the Brigance Clan have lived since the Civil War. W. B. BRIGANCE, a grandson of John Henry and Mary A., served as tour guide. The first stop was where Redmond R.'s home place was located a hundred years ago which was just a short distance north of where the Sonic on the west side of Highway 71 is now located. The group made several other stops at Brigance home sites and landmarks as the caravan drove through the Tate area. The last stop was the Taylor Cemetery where John Henry and Mary A. and many of their descendants are buried. At 4:00 p.m. some of the group left the Cypress Barn Lodge for a tour to the Duncan Cemetery were Redmond R. Brigance and some of his descendants, as well as some of the descendants of James Henry, are buried. Dennis Brigance had made arrangements to place a Civil War marker on Redmond R.'s grave stone. Then some of the group left for any evening at bluegrass music at Turkey Track while others relaxed and visited at the Cypress Barn Lodge. On Sunday (June 19) the reunion activities were at the Waldron High School Cafeteria beginning with the genealogy session at 9:30 a.m. A Seven Generation Brigance Genealogy Chart was presented. The chart begins with the six progenitors of the Brigance Clan who migrated from Pennsylvania to the Cumberland Settlement (now Sumner Co., Tennessee) prior to 1785. As time permitted, information was shared on what some members of the Clan had experienced and suffered during the Civil War and were Brigance Cemeteries are located. Visitation time began at 10:30 a.m. and continued until 12:30 when lunch was served. Next came picture-taking time beginning with a picture of members of the group who were 80 years of age and older. Other group pictures included the descendants of James Miner and Mary Frances (WILLIAMS) BRIGANCE, the descendants of William Andy and Ollie (TAYLOR) BRIGANCE, and the descendants of Redmond R. & Susanna (KIRBY) BRIGANCE.
