Leslie,
Yes, you are right about your grandmother and the "V" names of her sisters. Her name was Veronica Bernice (BRIGANCE) DAMERON (7/6/1904-6/9/1999).
The names of her sisters were Vivian May, Valera Savada , Vaneda Ann, Violet Rosena, and Verdie Viona "Vertie."
Then there were four brothers --John "Johnny" Thomas, Elmer Walter, Ernest William and Albert Cleatus.
Your BRIGANCE ancestral line is
1. John BRIGANCE (prior to 1750, PA-1798,TN)
2 James (1775, NC-ca 1860, TN)
3 James C. (1822, TN)
4 John Thomas (1848, TN)
5 Albert Walter (1879, AR)
6. Veronica Bernice (BRIGANCE) DAMERON (7/6/1904-6/9/1999)
7. Lester DAMERON (12/15/1946, OK)
Our common ancestor is # 2 above, James (1775, NC-ca 1860, TN). James is my G-G-G Grandfather and your G-G-G-G Grandfather. I descend from James's second child by his first marriage and you descend from the 9th child by his first marriage, James C. (1822, TN)
(# 3 above).
Our genealogy is included on page 2-92 of Volume 2 of the Brigance Genealogy.

The next Brigance Reunion is at Waldron, AR, June 18 & 19. We would be delighted to have you and other members of your BRIGANCE line attend.
I hope this helps.
Al Brigance
