Hi Linda,

I'm new to the Brigance message board - I come from Rueben and Mahala's oldest daughter, Martha Ann. I have little info but here goes:

Mahala Brigance b. abt 1801 in TN
Rueben Hunter b. abt 1800 in NC
m. 8/19/1819 Sumner Co. TN
They had 7 children (that I know of):
Henry b.1825 TN
Martha Ann b. 1830 TN (married John Curtis)
Francis b. 1832 TN (born crippled)
Alexander b. 1835 TN
Maria b. 1836 TN
Elizabeth b. 1839 TN (married John Rust TN)
May E. b. 1844 TN

Rueben and Mahala along with all their children, John Curtis, John Rust and grandchildren moved to Texas County, Missouri sometime around 1855. They are all listed in the 1860 census in MO living next to eachother. In the 1870 census they are in Cass township, Texas County, MO. Eliza (Elizabeth) Rust and her three children are living with Rueben, Mahala, Henry, Maria and May. Eliza is listed as a widow. In the 1880 census, Elisa Rust, her three children, Mahala Hunter and Francis Hunter are living in Rush, Buchanan, MO. Mahala is listed as a widow and both of her parents listed as born in NC. This is all that I have.

You might already have some or all of this info... any info you could help me with would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Julia Curtis-Johnston
