I looked up some of the documentation I have.
(1) the tombstone lists 1 January 1832
(2) in the marriage license, Jasper gives his age as age 27. They were married in 1866. This would make him born in 1839
(3) the 1900 census lists his age as being born in 1836
(4) In the application of Alexander J. Brigance 26 January 1843, he lists Jasper N. Brigance as age 4 when he claims money from the estate of his father for the support of Jasper and their youngest sister.
I feel that since we know that Jasper had to have given his age on his marriage license and also that Alexander Brigance as his older brother would also know when he was born, I feel that his true birthdate was 1 January 1839. He was born in TN and they probably came to Arkansas shortly after his birth.
