The Twenty-fourth National Brigance Reunion was hosted by the descendans of John Henry Brigance (1840, TN-1920, AR) at Waldron, AR, June 21st and 22nd.
The group gathered at the Cypress Barn Lodge on Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. departed for tours to the Blythe Famous Scott Co., Museum and the Taylor Cemetery were John Henry & Mary Ann (Tipton) (Musgrove) Brigance and several of their descendants are buried. Most of the group went on both tours.
Following dinner at Judy's Hwy 71 Diner several attended the popular "Turkey Track" (bluegrass music festival) south of Waldron. Others can spend the evening visiting with "cousins".
The genealogy sessions Sunday morning covered 500 years of Brigance History from Austria in 1600 to SC, PA, three stops in TN, TX and AR in 2000. Yes, we only "hit the high points," but we will go back and revisit locations and events on interest to those in attendance at future reunions.
There was lots of visiting and sharing before and after the potluck lunch at noon.
There were 90 in attendance with several attending for the first time. Nine states were represented-AR, GA, MO, NC, OH, OK, PA, TN, and VA.
The next reunion at Waldron, AR will be the Twenty-sixth National Brigance Reunion in June of 2005.
