Hello Jill,
I think we might be twigs on the same tree. My mother was Ethel Brier and on our Brier family tree I have --
David Brear and Mary had 6 children. They all lived at Southowram Halifax. Some carried the surname Brear some Briar but over the next generation they changed to Brier. I understand that this is not unusual as the Ministers interpreted what they heard.
Their children were David,( our side ) Joseph who married 19.05.1823 surname given as Brier to Harriet Baxendale. They had 11 children.
The 4th was a daughter JANE christened 8.8.1830. I hope this is who you are looking for.
The third child was John, then Sussanna, Robert and Jonathon.
Jonathon lived in Canada and the family there have good records.
I hope this will help and will look forward to hearing from you if you think we have made the connection. I would be interested in hearing from any others on the Brier family tree. All the best
Bette
